CASA Training
"I had no experience in this kind of work, but when I learned about what happened to Marcus [Fiesel] I knew I couldn't sit back and do nothing. Now I have a case of my own and I'm amazed at how already I've made a difference in this little girl's life."

ProKids’ flexible CASA training program is offered year-round.CASAs are trained in our flexible 30-hour CASA University, where they learn how to make a difference in a child’s life. The 30 hours are divided into 15 2-hour classes—28 hours are taken before you take a case, and two after you receive your first case.
Classes may be taken in any order, and each class repeats itself every 6-8 weeks. We generally offer 2 classes per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Class times are 9-11, 11-1 or 5-7. If you were able to take all the classes in order, you could graduate in about 7 weeks. However, you can take as long as 6 months to complete all 15 classes. Part of your training also includes attending a court hearing with a CASA to observe their work and become more familiar with the court process.
Training classes are scheduled in such a way as to give you an idea if your work schedule will allow you to attend court hearings or team meetings. If you have difficulty attending training because of your schedule, you will have difficulty as a CASA and may want to consider volunteering in another capacity.
While you are going through training we will do background checks that involve criminal and traffic checks, sex offender and child abuse registries, and three references.
